Notes From The Loft
Our musical prayer will experience some changes this year with the advent of the 3rd Edition of the Roman Missal. We will first tackle the congregational chant settings: Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus and Agnus Dei from the missal. The good news is that we already know how to sing the Agnus Dei. Because of the Gregorian style, with it's non-metered pulse, I believe that the beauty of it is full experienced in the original languages. Because the translations are easily understood, we will sing the Kyrie in Greek, the Sanctus and Agnus Dei in Latin. We will chant the Gloria (in English) from the Christmas season until Lent.
Mass settings can be heard here.
If you have any questions about any of the musical changes, feel free to chat with me at any time. If you would like to join our little group of singers, please call me. We would love to have you!
